The historic Temple Bar area of Dublin City is bounded on the north by the river Liffey, to the east the old Houses of Parliament, to the west Parliament Street and to the south Dame Street.
Temple Bar was colonized by artists in search of cheap rents and the place became such a thriving lively area thatthe government steeped in, saved it from demolition and spent millions to regenerate it as Dublin's cultural quarter.
As a result of the cultural framework many galleries, archives and exhibition spaces have been built in the area including the Irish Film Centre, a Multimedia Centre, the National Film Archives, the National Photographic Archives and a Cultural Centre for Children and of course many bars and restaurants.
Temple Bar is the ideal base for business, shopping or sightseeing. It is approximately 9 miles (14km) from Dun Laoghaire Ferry Port and 6 miles (10km) from Dublin airport. The drive from Rosslare Harbour to Dublin city is approximately 98 miles (158kms) by car.
